Now when Elisha had fallen sick with the illness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to him and wept before him, crying, “My father, my father! The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” And Elisha said to him, “Take a bow and arrows.” So he took a bow and arrows. Then he said to the king of Israel, “Draw the bow,” and he drew it. And Elisha laid his hands on the king’s hands. And he said, “Open the window eastward,” and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot,” and he shot. And he said, “The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Syria! For you shall fight the Syrians in Aphek until you have made an end of them.” And he said, “Take the arrows,” and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground with them.” And he struck three times and stopped. Then the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times.” – 2 Kings 13:14-19
Jehoash received what he did not earn
Jehoash received the gift of Gods grace
Grace is a gift from God (Eph. 2:8)
Grace is a weapon through the Spirit (Zech 4:6-7)
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain. And he shall bring forward the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’
Grace is a strength from Christ (2 Cor. 12:9)
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
Jehoash received what he needed most
Jehoash received a prophetic word from the Lord
A prophetic word is worth more than any other types of word.
A Word of Instruction (Psalm 18:34)
A Word of Mercy
Blessing that comes from obedience to the prophetic word (acts 5:29-32, 41-42)
Jehoash received what he thought was possible
It requires faith
Is your faith limited to what is possible? God is challenging His Kingdom people to embrace an unlimited possibility type of faith.
with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:25-26)
By God’s grace through His Holy Spirit we can receive more than what is possible. God works in the realm of the Supernatural.
We walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor 5:7)
Conclusion
Jehoash had to open the window but for you and I the window to Gods goodness has already been opened.
Let us take a closer look at a few of the prophetic elements involved with this story:
- Window = Heavens Blessings
- Arrow = God’s Victory
- Number 5 = God’s Grace
- Number 6 = Man Kind
The Holy Spirit is speaking a prophetic word over this generational church; that if we as Christs chosen warriors and kings of the land would release the arrow of God’s victory dispensing His grace to all mankind the window of heaven would be open bringing freedom from every oppression and chain of bondage.
