What spoke to me so powerfully in todays reading was Isaiah 7:9 “if you are not firm in the faith, you are not firm at all.” WOW! how powerful is that. The letters of Jude, ephesians, and timothy all talk about not being tossed about by every wind of doctrine. If you are not firm in the faith, you are not firm at all. Then Isaiah immediately proceeds to describe Emmanuels immaculate conception “behold a virgin shall conceive”. This is the utmost of our faith, that Jesus is both the son of God and the son of man. Hallelujah. Without this, Christianity would be equal to almost every other faith that was birthed out of man’s plausible ideas.
In Corinthians, Paul talks about having the same spirit of faith. This is the knowledge of who Jesus is and what He has done for us in bringing us redemption by his blood and then raising us to be eternally with him. And so, we are ought to then, as Paul rightly put it, “walk by faith and not by sight”. If you are not firm in the faith you are not firm at all.
